Description:
O-Acetylsalicylhydroxamic acid (OASHA) is an anti-inflammatory drug that is a potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of leukaemic cells in vitro and clinical studies have shown it is safe and well tolerated in humans. OASHA also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor alpha, which are required for cell proliferation. It has been found that OASHA inhibits hematopoietic stem cell proliferation and migration.
