1-Allylcyclopropane-1-sulfonyl chloride is a white crystalline solid that melts at about 100°C. It has been shown to have a benzene ring with one allyl substituent and a methyl sulfone group. The alkaline hydrolysis of 1-allylcyclopropane-1-sulfonyl chloride yields the sulfone as well as phenol, while the hydroxylamine gives an alkyl sulfone; both reactions are reversible. 1-Allylcyclopropane-1-sulfonyl chloride is stable in air and reacts slowly with water to form an alkaline solution. This chemical does not react with x-rays, but does show interactions with other chemicals such as xylene, acetone, and ethyl ether. These interactions can be seen through X-ray analysis.
