Product Information
- 6-Hydroxy-2-naphthalenecarboximidamide hydrochloride
6-Amidino-2-naphthol hydrochloride is a potent inhibitor of the serine proteases, including pancreatic trypsin and chymotrypsin. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of human liver trypsin at concentrations of 10 μM and lower. 6-Amidino-2-naphthol hydrochloride also inhibits the activity of anticomplement (C3b inactivation) and displays anticomplement activity on a model system. This compound can be used as an antiapoptotic agent that prevents cell death by inhibiting protease activity in cells. 6-Amidino-2-naphthol hydrochloride is also used as an anticancer drug for its ability to inhibit protein synthesis in cells. The inhibition constant (Ki) for this drug is 0.5 μM, which may be due to its ester hydrochloride form.
