3-Amino-1,2,4-benzotriazine-1-N-oxide is a prodrug that is activated by protonation. It may be used for the treatment of cancer. 3-Amino-1,2,4-benzotriazine-1-N-oxide has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in vivo in hypoxic tumors and in vitro in human serum. It also inhibits the activity of DT diaphorase, an enzyme involved in the synthesis of hydrogen ions. The mechanism of this drug is thought to be due to its ability to form reactive intermediates that are able to react with hydrogen ions. 3DCTKP has been shown to have a number of side effects and adverse reactions including liver damage and skin rashes.
