Description

4-Amino-1-methyl-1H-imidazole-5-carboxylic acid (AMICA) is a compound that belongs to the class of ibuprofen and has been shown to have immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory effects. It inhibits the production of prostaglandins in immune cells, thereby reducing inflammation. AMICA has also been found to have biological activity in mice, where it suppresses bone loss caused by chronic administration of ibuprofen or leflunomide. AMICA is not active against bacteria and does not bind to DNA. This drug has a ring system with two methyl groups on the imidazole ring and one methyl group on the isothiazole ring.
