Description:

5-Amino-2-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine is a heterocyclic aromatic compound that contains a benzene ring with two adjacent amine groups. It is a colorless, water-soluble solid that has an NMR spectrum consisting of four signals. The chemical shift for the NH protons on the pyrimidine ring is 4.4 ppm and for the NH protons in the benzene ring is 7.2 ppm. The substituents on the pyrimidine ring are SO and CH3, while those on the benzene ring are CH3 and F. 5-Amino-2-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidine can be used to synthesize other compounds such as sulfoxides or sulfones, which have many uses in medicine, food processing, and industry.
