It has been shown to be effective against a wide variety of bacteria, including Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria. The drug binds to bacterial DNA and inhibits protein synthesis by preventing chain reactions. This drug also has a chemical stability in wastewater, which makes it useful for treating wastewater as well as for disinfecting biological samples in laboratories.
