2-Amino-3-benzoylpyridine is an organic compound that belongs to the naphthyridine series. The acidic nature of this compound makes it a good leishmanial inhibitor with low yield. 2-Amino-3-benzoylpyridine has been synthesized by the reaction of 2-chloronicotinic acid and 3-benzoylpyridine in the presence of piperidine as a solvent and base. It is also used as an anxiolytic drug, with 5HT2C receptor agonistic activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cholesterol acyltransferase and kinases.
