Description

5-Amino-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxamide is a fungicide that is used in horticultural crops. It inhibits the growth of fungal pathogens by forming a covalent bond with an amino, hydroxyl, or sulfur atom in the fungal cell wall. The cyano group of this compound reacts with hydrogen atoms from the cell wall to form a stable nitrile linkage. This reaction prevents the synthesis of proteins and other essential components, which leads to cell death. 5-Amino-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxamide has been shown to be effective against pathogenic fungi such as "Botrytis cinerea", "Alternaria alternata", and "Fusarium oxysporum".
