Arsenous tribromide is a sesquiterpene lactone that contains nitrogen atoms. It is chemically stable and can be hydrolyzed by hydrochloric acid to give arsine gas and hydrogen bromide. Arsenous tribromide has been used as an analytical reagent for the identification of halides and metal ions in chemical reactions. It has also been used in the synthesis of dimethyl fumarate. The vibrational and fluorescence spectra of arsenous tribromide have been studied with optical properties, low energy, and reaction mechanisms.
