2-Amino-4-cyanopyridine is a synthetic compound that can be used in the synthesis of triazinium compounds. It has been shown to have high fluorescence intensity and excellent stability in water, making it a good candidate for use as a fluorescent probe. The 2-amino group of this molecule can be reduced by reductive elimination to form an amine, which may react with other amines or nitro groups to form a new nitrogen containing compound. 2-Amino-4-cyanopyridine has been shown to produce strong FTIR spectra in the presence of halides and methanol solvent.
