5S-2-Amino-5-dibenzylamino-4-oxo-1,6-diphenylhex-2-ene is a yellow solid that is soluble in benzene and ether. It can be prepared by the reaction of 2,6-dibenzyl amine with phenylmagnesium bromide and subsequent removal of the benzyl protecting group. The compound has been used as a reagent for the synthesis of α,β unsaturated ketones via Grignard reactions. 5S-2-Amino-5-dibenzylamino-4-oxo -1, 6 - diphenylhexane can be obtained by reacting anhydrous acetonitrile with chloride gas.
