2-Phospho-L-Ascorbic acid trisodium salt is a form of vitamin C that has been shown to have biological activity in basic fibroblast cells. It also inhibits the production of phosphatase, which is an enzyme that breaks down collagen. 2-Phospho-L-Ascorbic acid trisodium salt has significant cytotoxicity and may be used as a treatment for cancer. This compound is also used in diagnosing diseases such as diabetes mellitus and Alzheimer's disease by measuring the concentration of dehydroascorbic acid in blood plasma or serum.
