Product Information
- 2-(2-Aminoethyl)-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-2,3-dihydro-3-hydroxy-1H-isoindol-1-one hydrochlorideMazindol metabolite
2-(2-Aminoethyl)-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-hydroxyphthalimidine hydrochloride (2CPA) is a pharmacologically active agent. It is used as a suppressant of appetite and to treat heroin addiction. 2CPA has been shown to be effective in reducing the plasma concentrations of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and other addictive drugs by inhibiting the reuptake of these drugs into the brain. 2CPA binds to dopamine transporter proteins in the presynaptic nerve terminal, thereby blocking the reuptake of dopamine into the synaptic cleft. This leads to an increase in extracellular dopamine levels and an increase in dopamine receptor binding at the postsynaptic neuron. This increases synaptic activity and causes a feeling of euphoria.
