O-(2-Aminoethyl)-O'-(2-azidoethyl)nonaethylene glycol is a hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)1α inhibitor that inhibits tumor growth by inhibiting the synthesis of HIF-1α. O-(2-Aminoethyl)-O'-(2-azidoethyl)nonaethylene glycol has been shown to have anti-tumor effects in vivo and to inhibit tumor growth in vitro. The mechanism of action of this compound is not well understood, but it is hypothesized that this drug may inhibit the activity of polymerases involved in DNA replication, including DNA polymerase α and β. This drug also has anticancer properties against human cancer cells, such as ovarian cancer and prostate cancer cells.
