Description:

N-(6-Aminohexyl)-1-naphthalenesulfonamide hydrochloride (NAHA) is a non-selective cation channel blocker that is used as a phosphodiesterase inhibitor in the treatment of male infertility. NAHA inhibits sperm motility and prevents the binding of spermatozoa to the oviductal epithelium. NAHA also has an inhibitory effect on phosphatase activity, which may be due to its ability to increase intracellular Ca2+ levels. It has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in activated rat spermatozoa, leading to decreased levels of dinucleotide phosphate and ornithine.
