1-Aza-2-methoxy-1-cycloheptene is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits the cyclooxygenase enzyme. It has shown potent inhibition of prostate cancer cells, with high concentrations leading to cell death. 1-Aza-2-methoxy-1-cycloheptene also inhibits membrane conductance in prostate cancer cells, and can be used as a potential chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of this condition. This compound is homochiral, meaning it can exist in two forms that are mirror images of each other - this property can be exploited for separation processes by using chiral chromatography. 1-Aza-2-methoxy-1-cycloheptene can be synthesized from salicylic acid and methyl derivatives using a solid phase synthesis technique. This process starts with an amine, which reacts with a halide to form an amide bond
