Description:

Aristolochic acid B is an analytical method that can be used to detect aristolochic acid in human serum. The genotoxic effects of aristolochic acid B have been shown using a LC-MS/MS method in rat liver microsomes with activated polymerase chain reaction. Aristolochic acid B has also been found to inhibit the proliferation of myeloma cells, as well as induce apoptosis, through the use of monoclonal antibodies. In vitro assays using Chinese herb preparations containing aristolochic acid have also shown cytotoxic effects on human colon cancer cells (HCT-116) and human lung adenocarcinoma cells (A549).
