Product Information
- 10-Hydroxy-8-methoxy-6-nitrophenanthro[3,4-d]-1,3-dioxole-5-carboxylic acidAristolochic acid IVa
Aristolochic acid D is a trifluoroacetic acid derivative of aristolochic acid. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of urothelial carcinoma cells in vitro, as well as other renal cancer cell lines. Aristolochic acid D also inhibits the growth of renal proximal tubular epithelial cells in vitro and in vivo. This compound has been identified by chromatographic analysis and hydroxyl group content as an aristolactam. Molecular modeling studies have demonstrated that aristolochic acid D binds to DNA through specific interactions with the bases adenine and thymine, which are involved in the formation of DNA double helixes. Aristolochic acid D is found in plants belonging to the Aristolochiaceae family, including Fructus Aristolochiae (Chinese herb), and has long been used medicinally in China for its anti-inflammatory properties.
