Aurantioobtusin is a Chinese herb belonging to the genus Angelicae Dahuricae, which has been shown to have inhibitory properties against autoimmune diseases. Aurantioobtusin has been shown to increase the levels of intracellular glutathione, increase mitochondrial activity and ATP production, and promote cellular energy metabolism. It is also an antioxidant that inhibits lipid peroxidation. This compound has been shown to have a protective effect in vivo on mouse liver cells by increasing the activity of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase. Aurantioobtusin can be extracted from Angelica dahurica using acetate extraction with optimum extraction process, which is a low-cost method that does not require expensive equipment or solvents.
