10-[(3R)-(1-Azabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-ylmethyl)]-10H-phenothiazine (SCH) is a receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor that blocks the action of histamine at the H1 receptor. It is synthesized from quinine and has an asymmetric center. SCH is inexpensively synthesized and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of allergies, asthma, and certain other types of inflammation. The drug also inhibits the production of enzymes that are involved in the biosynthesis of histamine, including tyrosine kinase and dehydrogenase. This drug has been shown to inhibit ovary cells in rats, which may account for its antihistaminic effects.
