Description

2-Amino-5-bromonicotinic acid is an acetylcholine receptor agonist that is used in the treatment of cancer. It belongs to a class of drugs called cholinergics, which are used to stimulate the activity of acetylcholine receptors in the central and peripheral nervous system. 2-Amino-5-bromonicotinic acid has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by binding to epidermal growth factor receptors on the cell surface. This binding inhibits protein synthesis and prevents cellular division. In addition, 2-amino-5-bromonicotinic acid also binds with epidermal growth factor receptors on the cell surface, inhibiting its ability to stimulate cellular division.
