4-Aminobutyraldehyde diethyl acetal (4AA) is a chemical used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. It is a nucleophilic reagent with an activity index of 1. It binds to receptors and has been shown to inhibit axonal growth and disease activity in animal models. 4AA has also been found to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for the treatment of hepatitis, which is caused by inflammation of the liver. 4AA has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties that are similar in both women and men, but it has a lower activity index when administered orally to females. This may be due to differences in body mass index between men and women. The structural analysis of 4AA suggests that it belongs to the class of aminobutyric acid derivatives, which are compounds that contain amino groups attached to carbon atoms adjacent to an aromatic ring with an α-hydrogen atom on one side, forming a double bond with one hydrogen atom
