Product Information
- 7-Amino-3,4-dihydro-2(1H)-quinolinone
- 7-amino-3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(1H)-one
7-Amino-3,4-dihydro-1H-quinolin-2-one is a carbodiimide that inhibits the synthesis of pyrimidines. It binds to the cytosolic enzyme carbamoyl phosphate synthetase II (CPS II) and prevents the formation of carbamoyl phosphate, which is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of pyrimidines. This inhibition leads to a decrease in the production of uridine triphosphate, which is necessary for DNA replication and cell division. 7-Amino-3,4-dihydro-1H-quinolin-2-one has been shown to be effective against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
