Aniline-2,4-disulfonic acid is a colorless solid with an unpleasant odor. It can be synthesized by the reaction of aniline and sulfuric acid. Aniline-2,4-disulfonic acid is used in the production of dyes and pharmaceuticals. This compound is insoluble in water and soluble in alcohols.
Aniline-2,4-disulfonic acid has been shown to have tumorigenic properties when applied dermally or orally. It has also been shown to induce cleavage products that are mutagenic and carcinogenic in animal studies.
