2-Methylthio-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-1,3,5-triazine is an inhibitor of the enzyme polymerase chain reaction (PCR). It is a water soluble compound that can be used in wastewater treatment. 2-Methylthio-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-1,3,5-triazine inhibits the activity of enzymes by binding to their active site and preventing them from catalyzing the chemical reactions they are designed to catalyze. This results in a decrease in the levels of specific compounds or products. 2MEET has been shown to inhibit enzymes such as DNA polymerase, RNA polymerase, and protein kinases. The inhibition of these enzymes leads to a decrease in cellular growth and proliferation.
