Product Information
4'-Amino-biphenyl-3-carboxylic acid is a drug that inhibits glutamate pyruvate transaminase, an enzyme involved in the metabolism of amino acids. It has been shown to cause liver lesions and is a possible cause of infectious diseases in humans. The optical profile of 4'-Amino-biphenyl-3-carboxylic acid was found to be similar to that of nadph-cytochrome P450 reductase, an enzyme involved in electron transport. This drug also induces cell nuclei and alters the activities of other enzymes such as those involved in DNA synthesis. 4'-Amino-biphenyl-3-carboxylic acid has been shown to cause cancerous mutations in DNA by binding to DNA bases and forming hydrogen bonds with them. The drug is also able to bind to hydroxyl groups on proteins, which may explain its antiulcerogenic effects.
