2-Amino-1,5-naphthalenedisulfonic acid is an organic compound that is used to measure the redox potential of wastewater. It is a chromatographic science and has been used for the determination of amines in urine samples. The sulfonation of naphthalene with 2-amino-1,5-naphthalenedisulfonic acid yields 1,2-dihydroxynaphthalene, which can be detected by its fluorescence at 360 nm. This reaction can be catalyzed by diazonium salts and cleavage products are generated through hydrolysis or oxidation. 2-Amino-1,5-naphthalenedisulfonic acid also reacts with templates molecules to form a reactive intermediate that can then react with other molecules.
