Product Information

Name:
Acridin-4-ol
Synonyms:
  • 4-Acridinol
  • Acridin-4-Ol
  • 4-Hydroxyacridine
Description:

Acridin-4-ol is a diatomic molecule that contains an ethylene diamine and a hydroxyl group. The hydroxyl group can undergo intramolecular hydrogen bonding with the amine group, which may lead to formation of a phenylpyridine. Acridin-4-ol is reactive and has been shown to be toxic to human liver cells. It also interferes with mitochondrial membrane potential, leading to cell death by apoptosis. Acridin-4-ol has been used as a precursor for synthesis of other compounds, including anticancer drugs.
