Description:

2-Amino-9,9-dimethylfluorene is a fluorescent organic compound that can be used as a dye. It is thermostable and has been shown to be able to withstand the harsh conditions of electron microscopy. 2-Amino-9,9-dimethylfluorene has been used to introduce other molecules into cells and has also been used as a ligand in fluorescence imaging devices.
2-Amino-9,9-dimethylfluorene can absorb ultraviolet light and emit fluorescence at wavelengths from 350 to 450 nm when excited with light at 350 nm. Fluoran is a derivative of this molecule that absorbs ultraviolet light and emits fluorescence at wavelengths from 400 to 500 nm when excited with light at 380 nm.
