Description

2-Amino-4,5-dihydro-1,3-thiazol-4-one is a novel small molecule that inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL6 and IL10 in vitro. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. 2-Amino-4,5-dihydro-1,3-thiazol-4-one has shown to have inhibitory properties against k562 cells with an IC50 of 0.25 μM and is also active against human monocytes. This compound also possesses biological activities such as inhibition of DNA synthesis and protein synthesis with Ki values of 1.8 μM and 4 μM respectively. The mechanism of action is not yet clear but it may involve inhibition of RNA polymerase or DNA gyrase activity.
