3-Acetyl benzothiophene is a synthetic aromatic small molecule that inhibits the reuptake of neurotransmitters in the brain. It has been shown to have an affinity for opioid receptors and has been used in animal studies to study the effect of inhibition of reuptake on pain. 3-Acetyl benzothiophene also has anti-cancer properties and has been shown to inhibit cervical cancer cells in vitro. 3-Acetyl benzothiophene does not have any known adverse effects, but there are no human clinical trials for this drug.
