Description:

Z-Arg(NO2)-OH is a synthetic amino acid that is used to study the role of arginine in muscle development. It is an acetyl derivative of arginine. Z-Arg(NO2)-OH, when added to a culture of 293 cells expressing the human skeletal muscle myosin heavy chain, enhances expression of myosin heavy chain and increases the number of mature myosin filaments. This synthetic amino acid has been shown to be effective in activating skeletal muscle and may be useful for treating muscular dystrophy.
