L-Arginine ethyl ester dihydrochloride is a cationic surfactant that is used in the treatment of restenosis. It is an amino acid that has been shown to have biological properties, such as its ability to stimulate the production of prostaglandins and growth factors. L-Arginine ethyl ester dihydrochloride has been shown to inhibit the myeloid-derived suppressor cell (MDSC) response in mice undergoing carboxy terminal erythrocyte acetate extraction. This drug also interacts with the hydrogen bond network between histidine residues on proteins, which may be responsible for its effect on energy metabolism.
