C.I. Acid green 16 is a fluorescent dye that is used as an indicator for wastewater treatment and as a cross-linking agent in biological treatment processes. It is also used to measure the pH of acidic solutions. C.I. Acid green 16 has been shown to be an effective corrosion inhibitor, which prevents metal from corroding by forming a protective film on the surface of the metal. The compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria at low concentrations and can be used as a proximal tubule optical sensor, which can detect changes in kidney cells that are associated with certain diseases such as acute renal failure and diabetic nephropathy.
