Description:

DL-Allylglycine is a non-essential amino acid that is synthesized by the liver. The compound has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of serum prolactin and also increases glutamate levels in vivo. It inhibits the activity of certain enzymes, such as esterase, that are involved in metabolic disorders. DL-Allylglycine has been shown to be effective against bowel disease, which may be due to its ability to inhibit inflammatory responses. DL-Allylglycine can also stimulate epidermal growth factor production in wild-type cells and may have clinical relevance for experimental models of inflammatory bowel disease.
