4-Amino-6,7-dimethoxyQuinazoline is a hypotensive agent that belongs to the class of dihydropyridine derivatives. It has been shown to lower blood pressure by inhibiting the binding of catecholamines to adrenoceptors and reducing the force of cardiac contractions. 4-Amino-6,7-dimethoxyQuinazoline lowers blood pressure by blocking the action of sympathetic nerves on the heart and peripheral vasculature. This drug also lowers blood pressure through a direct relaxation of vascular smooth muscle. The drug binds to the stereospecific site on alpha receptors, which inhibits ionization energy and reduces pressor responses in some animals.
