(6R,7R)-7-[[2-[2-Aminomethyl)phenyl]acetyl]amino]-3-[[1-(carboxymethyl)tetrazol-5-yl]sulfanylmethyl]-8-oxo-5-thia-1-azabicyclo[4.2.0 ]oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid (LX) is a potent antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of microorganisms by binding to the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit and blocking protein synthesis. This drug also has a synergistic effect with cefapirin sodium against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. LX has been shown to have inhibitory levels in human serum and cell lysis at concentrations lower than those found in plasma or urine
