Product Information
5-Amino-8-chloroquinoline is a bacteriostatic agent that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It is bactericidal against B. subtilis, E. coli, and A. aureus at concentrations of 0.2%. The mechanism of action of 5-Amino-8-chloroquinoline is similar to thioureas and it has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, and other microorganisms by inhibiting protein synthesis through binding with the 16S ribosomal RNA or 50S ribosomal subunit in these organisms. Elemental analysis and elemental composition are consistent with that of 5-Amino-8-chloroquinoline hydrochloride (5ACQHCl). The substance was found to be active against a range of microorganisms including Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, fungi,
