Description:
(S)-3-Amino-gamma-butyrolactone hydrochloride is a chloroacetic acid derivative that can be synthesized from l-methionine. It is a chlorinated acetic acid that is used as a pesticide and in the production of hydrochloric acid. (S)-3-Amino-gamma-butyrolactone hydrochloride reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce 3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-2H-[1,2]oxazin-3(4H)-one. This compound has been shown to have insecticidal properties against aphids and other pests.
