Z-Arg(Tos)-OH CHA is an indoleamine 5-hydroxylase inhibitor that binds to the enzyme, preventing the conversion of serotonin into melatonin. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to a decrease in serotonin levels, which increases the risk for cancer. Z-Arg(Tos)-OH CHA has been shown to be an effective treatment for proliferative disorders and can be used as a diagnostic tool for monitoring cancer activity.
Z-Arg(Tos)-OH CHA also inhibits the 5-HT4 receptor, which is involved in regulating neurotransmission and neuronal growth among other functions. It has been shown to be a 5-HT4 receptor agonist that stimulates proliferation of cells that express this receptor.
