Description:

H-D-Asp(OBzl)-OH is an optically pure aspartic acid derivative with a chiral center. The enantiomers have been synthesized and characterized by kinetic measurements. The adsorption of the racemic mixture on mesoporous silica has been studied by gas sorption and isotherm experiments. Mesopores in the range of 2 to 10 nm are found to be selective for H-D-Asp(OBzl)-OH, with a high selectivity in the range of 80%. In addition, mesoporous silica modified with H-D-Asp(OBzl)-OH exhibits optical dichroism and chiral discrimination. These properties make it an attractive material for applications such as adsorbents, catalysts, or sensors.
