DL-3-Amino-3-(2-naphthyl)propionic acid is an amino acid sequence that has been shown to have anticancer activity. The drug consists of a cyclic peptide that mimics the amino acid sequence of sarcosine, an intermediate in the production of proline. DL-3-Amino-3-(2-naphthyl)propionic acid is a prodrug that undergoes hydrolysis by esterases to release its active form, 3-(2-naphthyl)propionic acid. This active form binds to arginine residues in proteins and inhibits protein synthesis. DL-3-Amino-3-(2-naphthyl)propionic acid also has shown antiinflammatory effects and can be used as a medicine for various disorders such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
