2-Amino-4,6-dichloro-pyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde is an organic compound that is a glycosidic form of methyl anthranilate. It is an acidophilic amine and has been shown to be active against herpes simplex virus. The asymmetric synthesis of 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidine derivatives can be achieved by reacting the appropriate ketone with 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidine and coupling it with 2 amino groups using trifluoroacetic acid. This reaction produces the desired product in moderate yield with excellent regioselectivity. 2-Amino-4,6-dichloro-pyrimidine-5-carbaldehyde is also a proinflammatory cytokine that induces the release of other cytokines such as IL1β, IL2 and TNFα. The carbonyl group in this molecule reacts with hydroxyl
