Lorlatinib is a small molecule that inhibits the tyrosine kinase domain of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). It selectively binds to EGFR and prevents it from binding to its ligands, which prevents cell proliferation. Lorlatinib has been shown to be effective against lung cancer cells resistant to other treatments. The drug also has a low toxicity for healthy cells, which may be due to its ability to bind only to EGFR and not other receptors. Lorlatinib is an anhydrous sodium salt with fluorescence properties that can be used in fluorescent microscopy and flow cytometry experiments.
