2-Aminoresorcinol HCl is a chemical compound that is used as an analgesic. It was first synthesized in 1894 and has been used as an analgesic since the 1940s. 2-Aminoresorcinol HCl is a hydrazine derivative of resorcinol, which has a chemical name of 2-amino-5-hydroxybenzeneboronic acid. 2-Aminoresorcinol HCl is soluble in water and alcohol, but not in ether or chloroform. It can be synthesized by reducing the carbamide with hydrazine, yielding an analgesic that has been shown to be effective in relieving pain for up to 12 hours. The reduction product may be recrystallized from water at a pH of 11 to remove impurities. This product can also be used as a neutralizer for other chemicals that are acidic or alkaline.END>
