This compound is used in the production of polypeptides and other bioactive molecules. The enzyme transaminase catalyzes this reaction, which converts 3-(1-aminoethyl)phenol to 2,4-diacetyloxybutanedioate. The enzyme acetonitrile glycohydrolase catalyzes the conversion of 2,4-diacetyloxybutanedioate to 2,4-diacetyloxybutanoate. 3-(1-Aminoethyl)phenol can be converted into a variety of other compounds through various reactions with carbonyl compounds or amines.
