Description:
(1R,2S)-2-Aminocyclopentanecarboxylic acid hydrochloride salt is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the class of polymyxin B. It is a natural product of bacterial fermentation and has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential in fungi. It also inhibits soybean lipoxygenase, which is responsible for the production of leukotrienes, which are mediators of inflammation. The synthesis of (1R,2S)-2-aminocyclopentanecarboxylic acid hydrochloride salt involves the use of a chiral catalyst to produce enantiomeric products.
