2-Acetyl-5-bromopyridine is a ligand that is used in X-ray crystallography and X-ray spectroscopy. It is an organic compound that has two acetyl groups and one bromine atom. 2-Acetyl-5-bromopyridine binds to silver ions through the nitrogen atoms of the acetyl groups. X-Ray diffraction studies on this compound have shown its crystal structure to be asymmetric with a trisubstituted carbon atom. The ligand has also been used for x-ray emission spectroscopy, where it was found to emit light at wavelengths of 410nm and 626nm.
