Description:

Acetylcholine bromide is a drug that is used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Acetylcholine bromide prevents the release of proinflammatory mediators from immune cells and has been shown to reduce intracellular calcium concentrations in human neutrophils. This drug also inhibits the production of prostaglandins by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 and inhibiting the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2. Acetylcholine bromide has been shown to be effective in vitro for treating occlusive coronary artery disease. It may also have a protective effect on myocardial infarction due to its ability to inhibit platelet aggregation. Acetylcholine bromide is a non-polymeric cholinergic agent that binds reversibly to muscarinic receptors and blocks acetylcholine binding, leading to an increase in glomerular filtration
